Recently I was asked to make 5 self portraits for Leica Gallery Boston - very quickly the narrative emerged. These works I created were about the female body in a world where religion and purity culture tell us how to feel. And how hard it can be to move past that. The show is up from March 8 - April 22.
Step into the private lives of three women celebrating and addressing their hometowns, families, and bodies. Looking inward to look outward - Inward/Outward takes a moment of pause to see how women see themselves. Eliminating the gaze of onlookers- there is no mistake in the message they are trying to convey to the world.
Using self-portraits and various mediums of photography creation - viewers are invited to experience the joy, turmoil, and comfort of being and seeing yourself.
